A Few Thoughts about a Software Industry Pioneer

Nicholas BredimusEvery story has a beginning and an end.  One of the great things about the life we live is that we don’t really know the end of the story.  I like to read biographies about successful business people because they inspire me to strive toward that same kind of success.  You don’t have to become a business person yourself.  A great artist can be successful.  Look at all the not-so-great actors, artists, and writers who succeed in life.

That’s important to me.  And so I thought I would write a biography about someone who is probably not a great man in anyone’s opinion.  He is just a successful man, a businessman who worked his way up the ranks like so many others.

Are you aware of how a genuine revolution in computing has fundamentally revamped hospitality and air travel? The man to thank is New Jersey’s own Nicholas Bredimus. His career highlights include time-saving computer programs, aircraft safety enhancements, and he’s even involved in designing upmarket houses. Bredimus has brought real energy to any and all areas, too.

You could have predicted, though, that given his family tree he was sure to rise to distinction. His line traces its provenance as far back as the days of Rome’s glory and proudly boasts a varied mix of nationalities. The maternal line comes out of Scotland and Germany. An equivalently broad mix typifies his father’s side; ahead of their emigration in the 1800s, the family dwelt in Luxembourg and England.

Having arrived in America, the line still worked hard to make their way to the top. Nicholas, as well as his sisters and brothers, was born to a father employed as a design engineer and a mother who worked as a practicing nurse. Bredimus went on to make his home in Texas for several years and also spent time in Kansas City, MO, Reston, VA and Scottsdale, AZ.

Following the completion of his education, he found himself engaged in quite a few high-powered jobs at many of the strongest and most illustrious firms in the airline industry. Among these was included the post of vice president for Hughes Airwest, Trans World Airlines (TWA), and, of course, Republic Airlines. An industrious programmer, his innovations in airline computer programs are most likely his best regarded legacy. His insight into aircraft maintenance management software, typical now throughout the airline business though initially designed for one specific firm, led to what is surely his most used achievement. He went on to create numerous other computerized solutions for the airline and hospitality sector in addition, among them completely automatic software to deal with airline bookings, employed now at fifty or more airlines, as well as his innovative PC based room booking system for the hotel sector, which was initially installed at more than seven hundred hostelries.

Afterwards would come QuikTix, an automatic, networked system for selling tickets that was an industry first. No matter the fact that this was undeniably his specialty, Bredimus also frequently worked in other fields. Responsible jobs with American Express and American Airlines were to come, and as you may know he started up his own company in the early nineties. At present date Mr Nicholas Bredimus has departed from Northwest Airlines and the software design industry, although he’s still making use of his talent. Currently, you can look for his work in top quality homes designed around many of the newest smart technologies out there.
